Lindenhurst was originally named “Breslau,” a nod to its first German settlers who came from the city of Breslau in Silesia. Over time, it grew into one of Suffolk County’s largest villages, with a rich blend of residential charm and coastal proximity.
Lindenhurst has also seen moments of extraordinary community strength — such as when multiple fires broke out south of Montauk Highway and were successfully contained by local firefighters, with help from departments across the Town of Babylon.
