In the early 20th century, Brentwood became known as a destination for health and wellness thanks to the Ross Health Resort Onehtah, run by Dr. William H. Ross. The resort promoted the idea that the scent of pine needles could bring health benefits and offered a peaceful escape from the pollution of city life.
Community spirit has long defined Brentwood. In 1898, local residents joined forces to form what would become the Brentwood Fire Department, responding to forest and brush fires that threatened the area's farmland and homes. The Brentwood Fire District was formally incorporated in 1899 after purchasing land from Mrs. Elvira S. Studley.
Today, Brentwood is one of Long Island’s largest and most diverse hamlets. Island Elevator proudly supports the area’s infrastructure with dependable elevator services designed to fit the needs of both older buildings and modern developments.
